Emley Millennium Green Update
12th Feb 2018
Following receiving funding from DDPET trustees, volunteers and contractors renewed the paths around the Green and the surface of the car park. It was a great turnout and everyone worked really hard… who needs a gym! The final result was great.
In November of last year Dave Wilde and Jo (Trustee) worked with children from Emley First School, who have achieved their Bronze Eco School Award and are working towards their Silver Award, to make a couple of bug hotels at the Green.
The children were very enthusiastic and a great time was had by all, not sure who enjoyed it more – the children, or Dave and Jo, and by the end of the day Buggingham Palace and Ant Villa were finished and ready for the bugs to move in.
More recently Dave and Jo again worked with the children at Emley First School making bird feeders using pine cones, yogurt pots etc. It was very messy and enjoyable. Afterwards Dave and Jo went to the Green to hang the feeders so that the children could go up during their outdoor learning and do a bird feeder hunt.
